Synopsis

Munemori, saudara tiri Shigemori, mengambil alih Heike, didukung oleh adik-adiknya Tomomori dan Shigehira, sementara Kiyomori mundur ke Fukuhara. Sementara itu, putra Tokuko, pewaris suaminya Norihito, kini sehat dan bertumbuh. Ketika Kiyomori mengetahui bahwa kaisar telah mengambil inisiatif dan merebut provinsi Echizen milik Koremori dan tanah Fujiwara yang diwarisi oleh Moriko, ia memerintahkan Munemori untuk mengumpulkan pasukan untuk berbaris menuju ibu kota. Awalnya berhasil, Kiyomori mengangkat cucunya, anak Tokuko, sebagai kaisar baru. Namun, keluarga Taira mulai memberikan penghinaan yang merendahkan pada klan yang kalah, menabur benih pemberontakan. Putra Go-Shirakawa, Pangeran Mochihito, memimpin pasukan Taira ke jembatan di atas sungai Uji (1180) dan mengalahkan pasukan oposisi yang didukung oleh Genji.
