Synopsis

Saat Izumi berusia delapan belas tahun, ia pergi menemui alkemis Silver Steiner dan meminta untuk menjadi muridnya. Dengan hanya memberinya sebilah pisau, sang alkemis menyuruhnya bertahan hidup selama satu bulan di puncak Briggs sebelum ia dapat menjadi muridnya. Pada hari kedua, ia ditemukan oleh beberapa penjaga benteng Briggs, tetapi berhasil mengalahkan mereka dan mengambil jatah makanan mereka. Pada hari kedelapan, ia hampir mati kelaparan, tetapi kemudian termotivasi untuk bertahan hidup. Saat ia belajar membela diri dan hidup dari satwa liar, ia menyadari makna di balik alkimia, dengan mengatakan bahwa satu adalah segalanya, dan segalanya adalah satu. Namun, setelah kembali sebulan kemudian, terungkap bahwa ia telah berbicara dengan kakak laki-laki Silver, Gold Steiner, yang bukan seorang alkemis melainkan seorang spesialis pertarungan jarak dekat.
