Synopsis

Akademi militer kekaisaran Barsburg dikenal karena melatih para elit yang membawa kemenangan bagi kekaisaran. Para siswa akademi bebas menggunakan kemampuan yang disebut “zaiphon” untuk bertarung, sementara jenis zaiphon yang dapat digunakan bergantung pada sifat prajurit.

Teito Klein, seorang siswa di akademi, adalah salah satu prajurit paling menjanjikan yang dihasilkan. Meskipun diejek oleh semua orang karena menjadi sklave (bahasa Jerman untuk budak) tanpa ingatan tentang masa lalunya, ia berteman dengan sesama siswa bernama Mikage. Saat mempersiapkan ujian akhir, Teito mengungkap rahasia gelap yang terkait dengan masa lalunya. Ketika upaya untuk membunuh Ayanami, seorang pejabat tinggi yang membunuh ayahnya, gagal, Teito dikurung sambil menunggu hukuman.

Hanya menginginkan yang terbaik untuk Teito, Mikage membantunya melarikan diri. Teito berakhir di gereja distrik ke-7 tempat ia dirawat oleh para uskup. Di sinilah Teito mencoba menghindari cengkeraman Ayanami dan militer, sehingga ia dapat menemukan kembali ingatannya dan mempelajari mengapa ia adalah orang yang dapat mengubah nasib dunia.
